Susanne Bannon, 82, of Union Beach, NJ passed away Wednesday, June 25th, at home surrounded by love and peace.
Susanne was born in Moyarta, County Clare, Ireland. Daughter of the late Delia (Kelly) and Martin Griffin. She was the second youngest of 9 brothers and sisters.
Susanne moved to America when she was 18 years old. She met and married her husband, the late William M. Bannon, Sr. in 1965. They moved to Hazlet where they made lifelong friends in the neighborhood who became family. Where wild things happened and a ton of fun was had. She lived in Hazlet until 1999 when she purchased her dream home on the water in Union Beach. She happily resided there, sitting on her deck, enjoying her own space, and tending to her beautiful garden. She found her calling around that same time and became a certified Massage Therapist. She was a true healer, and she loved doing it. She found her passion in healing others.
She loved traveling and was a prolific set dancer (one of the best they say).
She was a devoted sister and a devoted aunt to her many nieces and nephews who loved her as much as she loved them.
She was a dedicated friend, keeping friendships that spanned her lifetime and making new strong friendships over the years.
She was a devoted grandmother. She loved her grandchildren beyond measure. She was famous for slipping her grandsons money without their parents knowing. They loved their sneaky money from Nana, but they loved her hugs and kisses more. They will miss their Nana more than words can convey.
Most of all, Susanne was the best mother a daughter could have ever dreamed of. She and Maureen had a very special relationship that was built on love, devotion, hugs, patience and understanding.
Our hearts are broken at the loss of such a spectacular woman. The world is a dimmer place without her love and light in it. There are not enough words to express the grief we are all feeling at such a huge loss.
Susanne is survived by her devoted daughter Maureen Bannon and son William Bannon Jr. along with 6 grandchildren, Reese, Autumn, Patrick, Martin, Luciana and Austin.
Visitation will be held 1 PM to 5 PM on Sunday, June 29th and again Visitation will be held 9 AM to 9:45 AM on Monday, June 30th at Day Funeral Home in Keyport, New Jersey. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM on Monday, June 30th at Holy Family RC Church in Union Beach, NJ, interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport. I just found out about Suzanne's passing and I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Over the time she and I met each week for my massage we became good friends. She was a very special person and a gifted healer. There will always be a hole in my life without her. I will pray for comfort for all her family. It is such a loss to you all and to anyone who had the privilege of having her in their life. Sincerely, Theresa Horney
