Sylvia Benson Anderson, 95, of Dawsonville passed away July 6, 2025 at Northside Hospital Forsyth surrounded by her loving family following a period of declining health.
Born September 5, 1929, Sylvia spent the last 25 years in Dawson County and previously resided in Ohio. Affectionately known as "MomMaw", she was a devoted Christian woman who loved flowers, gardening, Jesus and her family. Sylvia was hard-working, feisty and honest to a fault. She would always tell her granddaughters they were beautiful and compliment a handsome man. Preceding her in death are her son, Robert Ulysses Benson, granddaughter, Anita Faith Jones, and numerous other relatives.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter in law, Linda Benson of Dawsonville; 47 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Sadie Morrison Barnes and Sally Shaw, both of Ohio; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 9, 2025 at 1 p.m. at The Soul Filling Station, 77 Hugh Stowers Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534 with Pastor Jesse Chism Officiating. Interment will follow the service at The Soul Filling Station Cemetery, 457 Kilough Church Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday.
