Taylor Johnson Obituary

Taylor Neil Johnson, beloved father, husband, brother and son, age 34 of Hendricks, MN passed away tragically in a car accident on Monday May 5, 2025. Visitation service will be held on Friday May 9, 2025, from 3pm to 7pm (prayer service to follow) at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks, MN. Memorial Service will be held Saturday May 10, 2025, at 11am with Pastor Chuck Shingledecker officiating. The service will be recorded for anyone who is unable to attend.
Taylor Neil Johnson was born in Brookings, SD on September 19, 1990, to Dennis and Kate (Taylor) Johnson. He was raised in Hendricks, MN, in a loving family where his love of trying new things first developed. Taylor's parents instilled a sense of community from a young age that he carried into adulthood as an active board member of both the Lake Hendricks Improvement Association and Hendricks Golf Course. Although Taylor enjoyed exploring new places, there was nowhere he loved more than Lake Hendricks and "The Shack" in Minnesota's Northwoods. Taylor attended Lincoln HI High School and graduated in 2009. He then attended Minnesota West, pursuing a degree in Wind Energy Technology. Taylor worked for Avangrid Renewable Energy near Toronto, SD.
Taylor fell in love with his favorite girl on his favorite lake when he was 16. He married Brittany Engesmoe, the love of his life, on July 27, 2013, in Madison, MN. They have two children, Olivia Lynn, born April 23, 2017, and Gavin Neil, born March 9, 2020. Taylor and Brittany proudly focused on developing family values of adventure, curiosity, generosity, community, and connection. Taylor was a hands-on dad, making breakfast for the family, openly and freely showing affection, and being playful.
Taylor was an avid outdoorsman, whether hunting, fishing, skiing, or golfing; he was happiest while outdoors with people he loved. He instilled a love of nature in those around him who were fortunate enough to be in the presence of his patient teaching, especially his wife and kids. Taylor was passionate about everything that he put his mind to. He didn't just love the outdoors; he studied it and was an intentional outdoorsman. One look at Taylor's garage filled with mounts on every wall, and you'd know that he took his passions seriously and lived them with pride.
Taylor was a 100% kind of guy. He truly showed up and gave his all to people. He was generous with his time, energy, and his heart. Taylor was everyone's best friend. And his family's anchored heartbeat.
Taylor is preceded in death by his sister Lucy Kate; grandparents Jerry and Lucille Taylor, Neil Johnson, Gloria Johnson, Janetta Johnson; uncles John Taylor; aunt Vicky Cummings; and cousin Christine Taylor. Those left to cherish his memory and legacy include his wife of 11 years, Brittany; children Olivia and Gavin; parents Kate and Dennis; in-laws Paul and Lori Engesmoe; sisters Sara (Jack) Weber and Elizabeth (John) Paulsen; brother in-laws Kristopher Engesmoe and Tyler (Brittany) Engesmoe; nieces and nephews Eden and Isaac Weber, George Paulsen, Raelyn and Jax Engesmoe; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that feel like family.
