TERESA CUNNINGHAM Obituary

MRS. TERESA CARTER CUNNINGHAM, age 61, of 3141 Dearing Acres Road, Dearing, GA passed on Sunday, August 24th, 2025, at her residence. Family members and friends may call at the funeral home. THOMSON FUNERAL SYSTEM, Thomson, GA oversees all arrangements.

MRS. TERESA CARTER CUNNINGHAM was born on Wednesday, September 25, 1963, in Augusta, GA, to both the late James Carr and Helen Moss. She departed this life and gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, August 24, 2025, while at her residence. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Julie Taylor and a brother, Johnny Lee Carter.

Teresa attended the public schools of McDuffie County, GA and was a member of the Thomson High School Class of 1982 alumni. She was gainfully employed with Georgia-Pacific Corporation of Warrenton, GA as a Custodial Supervisor before retiring. During her walk of faith, she accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined the Mount Aldred Christian Methodist Episcopal Church of Warren County, GA. She attended regularly and served faithfully as an Usher until her health started to decline. During her personal praying time, Teresa enjoyed reading her Bible, fostering a deeper spiritual connection of understanding. In her leisure, she enjoyed sewing and fishing as often as she could.

Our mom was a light in the darkest moments, a comforting hand when life was tough, and a voice of wisdom that guided us through. She taught us to love deeply, laugh often, and never take a single moment for granted. Though she's no longer here, her spirit is in every sunrise, every smile, and every act of kindness. We love you mom!

Many precious memories are left to those she leaves behind: her three children, Della Nelson of New York, Kianna Cunningham of Dearing, GA and Yolanda Cunningham of Thomson, GA; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Yvonne Myers of Augusta, GA, Jannie M. Shanks, James (Joyce) Carter, both of Atlanta, GA, Johnny C. Carr of Evans, GA, Ronnie Carr, Patricia Smith, both of Thomson, GA and Mattie (Wyman) Harris of Gibson, GA; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, extended family members, church members and friends.
