Teresa Marie (Rice) Callinicos, 67, formerly of Tomah and Arvada, CO, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Creamery Creek in Stoddard. She was born on August 10, 1957, in Mt. Home, Idaho, to James A. and Joyce E. (Stark) Rice.
Teresa graduated from Tomah High School in 1975 and went on to earn her nursing degree from the University of Eau Claire in 1979. Following graduation, she moved to Colorado to begin her next big adventure and to embrace her love of the mountains and the outdoors. She later completed her master's degree to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner through the University of Colorado-one of her proudest accomplishments as a working mother of twins.
Throughout her career, Teresa worked in hospitals and a variety of healthcare settings before finding her true calling as a beloved school nurse, where she made a lasting impact on countless students and families. In the summers, she embraced "camp mode" and worked at a variety of summer camps, sharing her joy for having fun. Teresa loved camping, skiing, biking, and running. She was often seen by neighbors and friends jogging around the lake near her home in Arvada, Colorado.
She will be remembered for her zest for life, adventurous spirit, dedication to nursing, and the deep, unconditional love she gave to her family and friends.
Teresa is survived by her children, Nathan Callinicos of Golden, CO, and Emily (Phil) Callinicos of Onalaska; her cherished granddaughter, Paisley; and her siblings: Elizabeth Kay Pierce of Phoenix, AZ, James Anthony II (Melissa) Rice of Metairie, LA, Timothy Charles (Jill) Rice of Weehawken, NJ, Daniel McCann Rice of Oshkosh, WI, and Todd Michael (Karla) Rice of Neenah, WI. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Rodney Marvin Jensen, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Debra Anne Jensen and Jeanne Patricia Rice, and a niece, Kathryn Anne Jensen.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, 11:00 AM at Queen of Apostles Parish, 315 W. Monroe Street, Tomah. Father Ethan Hokamp will officiate.
Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
