Teresita Pablo Obituary

Teresita M. Pablo, affectionately known as Tessie, passed away on August 16, 2025. She was born on August 27, 1944, in the Philippines, the eldest of five children. Tessie met the love of her life, Melchor L. Pablo ("Mel"), at the local church courtyard in 1959, and married him in 1967.

She graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1964 with the degree Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and passed the board exams for Certified Public Accountants in 1965. She earned her M.B.A. degree from Ateneo University in 1970. Soon after, she became Controller for a large log export company.

Tessie immigrated to the United States in 1975 to join her husband Mel, who immigrated earlier. She joined the New York State Housing Financing Agency as an Accountant in 1979 and retired from that same agency as a Senior Accountant in 2007.

While raising her three children, Lourdes, Vivian, and Roland, Tessie pursued her personal interests by enrolling in a dressmaking school and in a cooking school, where she studied baking and food preservation. After her children had grown up and left home, Tessie began learning ballroom dancing with her beloved Mel. She took piano lessons and then learned to roller skate. Tessie was also an avid reader with an insatiable passion for learning. Yet, her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren.

Tessie is survived by her husband Mel; her children: Lourdes (Christopher), Vivian (Nicholas), and Roland (Maria); her grandchildren: Lucas, Anna, Rosa, James, and Vivienne; her siblings: Onette, Nonoy (Celeste), and Marie (Ramon); and her many nieces and nephews. Tessie is predeceased by her father, Saturnino B. Millan; her mother, Micaela A. Millan; and her sister, Maria ("Girlie") Evangelista.

Visitations in memory of Tessie are scheduled for August 30 and 31, 2025, from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. for both days, at the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Homes, 125 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park, NY 11040. Telephone: (516) 354-0634. Cremation services will be on September 2, 2025, for immediate family and relatives only.
