Obituary Terrell Jon Hill
Terrell Jon Hill, 68, passed away at Idaho Falls Community Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from complications due to flu and pneumonia.
Terrell was born July 20, 1956 in Blackfoot Idaho, the son of Truman Johnson Hill and Violet Arvella Sims.
Terrell grew up on Riverton Road in
Blackfoot, Idaho. He attended school in Blackfoot from K -12. He was very smart and ambitious, and graduated early in 1974 from Blackfoot High School. He went to work for his brother-in-law Bobbie Creek in Montana as a hunting guide for two years. He then went to work for Harris Feed Lot in Blackfoot. While working there he met his forever sweetheart Laurel Crooks Burnside, and was married on May 23, 1980 in Elko, Nevada and they have been together for 45 wonderful years..
Terrell worked at Harris feedlot until it shut down in 1984. He took on odd jobs for a while, working at the Purina dealership in Blackfoot, as a construction worker and also a government trapper. He eventually attained a job with the Idaho State Police as as a Brand inspector. He loved the job and was able to meet so many people which became lifelong friends. It gave him a freedom to work with cattle and horses and be outside. He loved the outdoors and spent his free time hunting and going to rodeos. He rode bareback horses, bulls, and team roped.
Terrell had a daughter from a previous relationship that he has enjoyed getting to know in these later years. He also helped raise Laurel's two children and loved each one of them dearly. On February 8, 1988 Terrell and Laurel added a beautiful little girl Rebecca Jo and on January 11, 1989 they had a handsome son, Chance Johnson.
In 1990 they moved to a small ranch on Cottonwood Lane in Wapello Idaho. In 2007 Terrell was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis which caused him to slow down. After living with that, he was later diagnosed with Crones disease. They lived and raised their children on Cottonwood until 2018. At that time, his health had declined and they sold their family home and moved to Moreland, Idaho.
Terrell was an avid outdoorsman and loved riding, training horses, hunting and working with his hounds. He was a long time member of multiple trapping associations and truly enjoyed going to all of the conventions and fur sales he could get to. He loved people and never met a stranger. He loved little kids and enjoyed teasing them. He could talk your ear off and tell story after story of his very interesting life. It became difficult for anyone to walk from him without a conversation.
Terrell is survived by his wife, Laurel, three children, Rebecca Jo Hill (Ryan Connell), Chance Johnson Hill (Brady Morris) and Amy Jolene Christensen (Jake Phillips), two step children, Tara (Brent) Lyon, and Patrick (Marisa) Burnside, two brother Steve ( Kara) Hill, and Dwight ( Regina) Hill. He has 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Violet Hill, and one brother, Barry Lynn Hill.
