Terry Bagley, 73, passed away at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD, on July 6, 2025.
Terry, son of the late Lindsey Bagley and the late Willie Mae Kelly, was born in Winnsboro, SC, on June 15, 1952, along with his twin brother Jerry Bagley. Terry grew up on Cemetery Street in Winnsboro, SC, alongside his brothers, Freddie, Jerry, James, and John, and his sister, Edna Mae, in a community full of love and friendship. Terry enjoyed playing sports such as basketball and baseball with the neighborhood kids. He also enjoyed swimming and fishing at the creek near his parents' house. Growing up, he and his family attended Wayman AME Church. He also assisted his mother in working at a country club and helped his father with bricklaying. Terry graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1971 and then joined the United States Marine Corps, fighting in the Vietnam War. Terry has been with his life partner, DeLois Eggleston, for over 44 years.
After leaving the military, Terry relocated to Baltimore, MD, with DeLois and followed in his father's footsteps by becoming a brick mason/ construction worker. Terry helped build many hospitals and communities throughout Baltimore and was known for his skills in reading blueprints and general knowledge of construction. He also worked at the VA Hospital in housekeeping up until his death. Terry enjoyed cooking large meals for his family and watching old westerns, such as Gunsmoke and Bonanza, as well as martial arts movies. He was a huge fan of Bruce Lee and enjoyed listening to the multifaceted singer Sam Cooke. Terry had an overwhelming love for animals and would risk his life to save one. He also enjoyed hanging out
with his friends who had all passed away, Kenny, Anthony (Country), Knothead, and many more. In the community, Terry was known as the neighborhood Hero, risking his life to save a mother and her daughter in a house explosion in November 2022. Terry received many awards and recognition for putting his life on the line to save others. His words, "I'm no hero. I just did what was necessary to do to save someone's life."
He is survived by his lifelong partner DeLois Eggleston; daughters, Eris and Icee Bagley; Son Terry Bagley Jr; daughter-in-law Sam Bagley; Granddaughter Lyric Sutton; brothers, Jerry and John Bagley; Sister, Edna Mae Bagley; niece/goddaughter Pheobe Bagley; as well as many nieces and nephews.
