Terry Lynn Campion, 70, of Gonzales, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Terry was born on March 19, 1955, in Cuero, Texas, to Bobbie Lee and Gladys Tieken Campion. He grew up in Gonzales and graduated from Gonzales High School in 1973. From a young age, Terry found joy in spending time in the country with his grandparents, where his love for the land and the outdoors began to grow.
After high school, Terry worked at Wuest's, Poole Electric, and Ferrel Gas before joining his father in the family's chicken houses, where he worked faithfully for 37 years. A man of quiet dedication and strong work ethic, Terry took pride in providing for his family and serving his community in meaningful ways.
Terry married Ruth Ann Null on September 6, 1980 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gonzales. They were married for 45 years, despite Terry's unfiltered mouth.
In his adult years, Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and cherished summer camping trips with his family to Lake Texana - simple traditions that became lifelong treasures.
Terry was a devoted member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gonzales, where his faith anchored his life. He was also a proud member of the Gonzales Young Farmers for 52 years, holding many offices including Area VII Secretary and Vice President. Throughout his decades of involvement, Terry was honored with numerous awards, including Outstanding Member, Star Young Farmer, Family of the Year, Outstanding Area Officer, and Farm & Ranch Manager. His commitment to agriculture and community service also led him to serve on the Farm Bureau Board from 1988 to 1994. He was a member of the Bass Fishing Club, Saturn Community Association, and FELC Men of the Church.
Terry was known for his sarcastic humor and knack for "stirring the pot" just enough to keep everyone laughing - but beneath that humor was a heart full of loyalty, love, and devotion. His greatest joy came from time spent with his grandsons, John and Asher, who were the light of his life.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Ann Campion; his sons, Justin Campion (Meagan) and Jason Campion; his grandsons, John and Asher Campion; his mother, Gladys Campion; his brother, Rickey Campion (Janie); and his sister, Sandra Wallis (Keith) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobbie Lee Campion.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home in Gonzales, with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Saturn Cemetery. The family invites everyone to join them at the Saturn Community Center following the burial for a light meal and time of fellowship - just the way Terry would have wanted, surrounded by friends, family, and good stories.
Pallbearers are Justin Campion, Jason Campion, Charlie Campion, Alston Wallis, Jaxon Beck, Johnny Rabel, and Roy Halamicek. Honorary pallbearers are John Campion, Asher Campion, Royce Farrar, Rusty Clampit, the staff at Elara Caring and the members of Gonzales Young Farmers.
Memorials can be made to First Lutheran Evangelical Church of Gonzales Bereavement Fund and Saturn Cemetery Association.
Terry's life was one of love, laughter, faith, and steadfast service. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
