Terry Ray Heim, of Lakeville, MN, passed away peacefully at his home on July 16, 2025, at the age of 77.
At a young age, Terry's family moved to Lakeville, where his father designed and built their family home. He attended All Saints Catholic School from 1st through 6th grade and Lakeville Area Schools from 7th through 12th grade. After completing high school education, he attended technical college in Faribault, Minnesota, where he studied Marine Outboard Motor Repair.
Terry was drafted in 1969 and served in the U.S. Navy as an Engineman aboard the USS Tom Green County and the USS Vancouver during the Vietnam War. After completing his service in 1972, he relocated to Faribault, where he worked on boats and snowmobiles, eventually securing a job with Holmblad Construction, hauling sand and rock.
Later, Terry acquired a boilers license and returned to school to earn a degree in Golf Course Management. He was offered the position of Head Groundsman at Lakeville Area Schools, where his office was located in the same building that once housed his high school FFA classroom. Terry retired from Lakeville Area Schools in 2014, and for a few years afterward, worked for the City of Lakeville, mowing grass.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Phyllis, and his firstborn son, Kristopher.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; children Dan (Jill) Heim, Jason (Jen) Heim, Tracie Heim-Broman, Riley Macgregor (James Duggan) and nephew Tony Zierman; grandchildren Skyler Heim, Jackson Heim, Caden Heim, Tres James Broman and his loving pup, Siri, who was by his side until the very end.
A celebration of Terry's life will be held in the spring, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM at Edina Cremation Society, located at 7110 France Ave. S, Edina, MN 55435, when the beautiful Lakeville and surrounding areas are sprouting with his favorite color-green.
Terry will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with military honors.
