Terry L. Twardesky, age 79, of Ocean View, DE formerly of Fairfax, VA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 in the comfort of her own home.
Terry was born in Chattanooga, TN on May 15, 1946 daughter of the late George Joseph Lotito and the late Christine A. (Coffelt) Lotito.
She began her working career with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service where she met and married her beloved husband, Ron Twardesky. Terry then transitioned her career to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) starting in the Personnel Department at headquarters in Washington, D.C. Terry quickly emerged as the Administrative Officer for the Division of Bank Supervision. She was highly respected for her knowledge and efficient management of all personnel matters not only at headquarters but in all the regions throughout the country. She retired with over 35 years of a distinguished service with the FDIC.
After moving to Delaware, she became an integral part of her neighborhood at Bear Trap in Ocean View, DE. She loved her neighbors and friends in the community where she enjoyed golfing and playing Mahjong. Terry had an adventurous spirit as she loved to travel with her family and friends. Although Terry had no children, she loved her nieces and nephew and thoroughly loved spending time with each of them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Twardesky in 2008. She is survived by her sister, Pat Kirkpatrick and her husband, Maury Dube; a brother, Joe Lotito; two nieces, Kelley Beckstead and her husband, Mike and their daughter, Lily Ryan Beckstead, Angela Lotito Holmes and her husband, James and her two children, Zachary and Charlotte Sanford and a nephew, Kevin Kirkpatrick and his daughter, Emma Christine Kirkpatrick. Terry is also survived by her canine and constant companion, Augie a miniature Dachshund.
A visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11 AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE 19930, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 AM. Interment will be held privately at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
