On September 19, 1962, a baby girl was born to Samuel and Mary Roberts, whom they named Thelma Louise Roberts. Thelma grew up in Old Town Brazoria.

Thelma accepted Christ at an early age at Wilhite AME Church under the leadership of Reverend Sims. The family later joined Zion Temple AME Church, it became our family church. Later in life she became a member of New Revelation Baptist Church, Bay City, Texas. Thelma was educated in the Columbia-Brazoria Independent School District and was a proud graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1981. After she graduated she attended Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas, there she received her B.S. degree in Sociology. While attending Paul Quinn, she played Basketball, ran track, and made lifetime friends. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and a member of the Social Club Alpha Angels.

She enjoyed talking on the phone, watching soap operas, reading, working crossword puzzles and most of all spending time with family. Thelma worked at Women's Center of Brazoria County for 22 years. One of her most happiest moments was the birth of her grandchild and the engagement of her daughter to Rene Torres. Thelma was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt. She instilled in her family the importance of loving one another and maintaining the family bond.

On July 15, 2025 she made her transition from earth. She is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Mary Roberts; her brothers, Samuel, III and Robert Arthur.

She leaves to mourn her death, her daughter, Breanna Roberts, (Rene III); her companion of 30 years, Lyndell Hall, Sr, her grandson Makai Torres, her brothers, Donald Johnson, Marvin Roberts, Jeffery Roberts, her sisters, Sammie Long, and Sherry Staggers; nieces Shaundria Woodard, Miesha Saucier, Kaayla Long, nephews, Clifford Durgan, Donald Long, Jr., and a host of other family and friends.
