Theresa Stitley Obituary

Theresa Kay Stitley, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2025, in Tallahassee, Florida.
She is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Jimmy and Robert Martin, both of Tallahassee; her devoted life partner, Rick Martin; three brothers; one sister; and many extended family members and friends.
Theresa was born on March 29, 1962, in Maryland, to Thomas Edward Stitley and Cora Jay. She graduated from Feldwood High School in 1980 and later moved to Tallahassee, where she built a life filled with love and community.
A devoted mother and partner, Theresa met Rick Martin in Georgia, and together they raised two sons-and four beloved cats. Her warm, vibrant spirit touched many lives. She was known for her joyful personality, her love of biking, and her passion for spending time with her family and friends. Theresa was deeply engaged in her community and always found ways to bring people together with kindness and laughter. She always spoke about the love she had for her two boys.
"When I think of Mom, I can see her riding her bike. I can still hear her saying, "Momma's home." One of my favorite memories is when we all went boating with momma and Dad. For fun, we would talk about our family history and tell stories. One of the things I admired most about Mom was her incredible endurance - how far she walk and the resilience she showed throughout her life. Our most serious conversations were about our faith in God and the life choices we come to make. What we shared in common was a loving soul and a deep love of music.
Something few people knew about her was that she read the Bible faithfully and even met Burt Reynolds. What we will miss the most about her, is simply having her presence around, her routine, and the everyday comfort of her being near. I hope people will remember her as we do: A deeply loving mother of two boys."
A celebration of Theresa's life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Berean Christian Fellowship. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
