Thomas Bridges Obituary
Thomas F. Bridges was a man whose life was rooted in love, dedication, and quiet strength. He was born in Forest Hills, and though his future wife was from Jamaica Plain - a classic neighborhood rivalry - they were always a perfect match. On April 4th, 1964, he married the love of his life, Barbara A. Connelly, for 56 years together they built a life grounded in family and unwavering commitment. They began their life together on South Street in Jamaica Plain, later settling on Harriet Avenue in Quincy. Summers were often spent in Marshfield, where they created lasting memories with their daughters and built a warm, welcoming home filled with love and laughter.
Tom devoted his entire professional career to Boston Gas Company, where he built lasting friendships and a reputation for hard work and integrity. After retiring, he found joy in a second chapter at Milton Academy, where his presence and care were deeply appreciated.
In retirement, Tom lived in Whitman with his youngest daughter and her family, filling the home with laughter, stories, and love. For over a decade, he and Barbara spent their winters in Naples, Florida, soaking in the sunshine and enjoying the company of friends.
Tom lived a full and active life. He was a proud member of the Montclair Men's Club and the McKeon Post. In his younger years, he played softball for the Boston Gas team, enjoyed rounds of golf in various leagues, and never passed up a good poker game. A lifelong cribbage player and loyal lottery number player, Tom found joy in both the big moments and the small routines of daily life.
Above all, Tom was a devoted family man. He was the proud father of three daughters, each of whom he loved fiercely:Karen Monahan and her husband Kevin of Hull, Krisann Kelley and her husband John of Boston/Hull, Kim Olszewski and her husband Scott of Whitman
He was also a beloved grandfather to seven grandchildren: Katherine and husband Patrick Carr, Hannah and husband Darren McCutchen, Bridget Monahan, Sean and wife Katie Kelley, Kevin Kelley, Finn Olszewski, and Devin Olszewski; and a cherished great-grandfather to Natalie Carr, Quinn and Desmond McCutchen, and Angelena Kelley.
Tom's legacy is one of love, loyalty, laughter, and quiet strength. He gave his all to those he loved and was surrounded in return by a family who adored him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
