In the tapestry of life, each thread has its place, and Thomas J. Chouinard, known affectionately as Tom, wove a pattern rich with care and community. Born under the autumnal skies of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, on the eleventh day of September in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and forty-seven, Tom embarked upon a life that would be marked by steadfastness and a gentle spirit. As the curtains closed on his earthly performance on the fourth of April 2025, in the neighboring town of Worcester, he departed this world as quietly and peacefully as he lived, succumbing to the natural progression of time.
The son of Joseph and Delina Chouinard, who have since taken their leave from this mortal coil, Tom carried on the legacy of his family within the walls of his childhood abode. His life was a testament to the bonds of kinship, for he leaves behind his sister, Annette Bergeron, and a legion of nieces, nephews, and their progeny, who will remember him for his magnanimity and the joy he cultivated in their hearts.
His life's path was one of simplicity and devotion, and though he chose to remain a bachelor, his heart was never solitary. He found kinship in friendship, most notably with Emile Pepin, a companion of many years, and Carol Gaffney, a neighbor whom he supported with unwavering loyalty until her passing. Carol's children, Jason and Crystal, knew the comfort and constancy of his presence, and Jason remained by his side, sharing in the warmth of his home until Tom's final days.
Tom's early years were spent in the nurturing halls of St. Joseph Elementary School, and later, he crossed the threshold of Fitchburg High School, emerging as a graduate ready to take his place in the world.
His professional life was intertwined with his family as he honed his craft at Leominster Tool Company, a legacy of his brother-in-law,Francis. Bergeron.
Yet, beyond the daily toil, Tom's interests were the true colors of his soul. A vigilant guardian of Fitchburg, he attended to the town's growth with the dedication of a sentry. Mornings found him tracing the streets of his beloved town, keenly observing its progress, later recounting tales of change to his dear friend Elena. His love for the town's pulse was matched by an affinity for the noble work of firefighters. Tom's collection of Code 3 Cast metal fire trucks was not merely a hobby but a tribute to the bravery he so admired, a portion of which graced the halls of the Fitchburg Fire Department as a testament to his reverence.
In the words of the great poet John Donne, "No man is an island," and Tom lived by this creed, his life a beacon of interconnectedness. His passion extended to the culinary traditions of his heritage, the Canadian Gorton, a recipe passed down from his father, a symbol of the continuity of family and the comfort of home.
As we bid farewell to Thomas J. Chouinard, let us remember him not with sorrow but with the fondness of remembrance. For though his voice is stilled, the echoes of his deeds will resonate through the lives he touched. In the immortal words of Shakespeare, "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts." Tom played his part with grace, and now, as he takes his bow, we stand in ovation for a life well-lived.

I can remember back as a little girl I was about 6 years old when my mother Carol and Tom got together. Tom was the greatest thing that ever came into our lives. His love for my mother and his love for his fire trucks and diecast models was the highlight of his life. I can remember all the vacations going to the White Mountains going to Vermont the crazy trip we took to Troy New York and hopes to see my first niece being born, but that didn't happen while we were there but we still had a great time. Tom I really hope that you are up there rocking the heavens with my mother please give her a hug for me please continue to watch over me and my children you'll forever be missed I love you to the moon and out of space you will always be my stepfather. Until we meet again. 224
