Thomas "Tom" Kent Crabtree, 69, of Richmond, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025, at his home.
Tom was born on December 23, 1955, in Excelsior Springs, the son of Jewell and Frances (White) Crabtree, Jr.
Survivors include: his long time companion, Janie Stevens of the home; son, Clint Crabtree of Richmond; daughter, Staci (Kevin) Proffitt of Kansas City; two grandsons, Benjamin Proffitt and William Proffitt; brother, Steven Crabtree (Shelby Leonard) of Kansas City; and his faithful K-9 Companions, Harvey and Gizmo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David Paul Crabtree, and his wife, Jackie Crabtree.
Tom was raised and educated in Richmond and graduated from Richmond High School with the Class of 1974. He had a lifelong passion for the outdoors and was an avid hunter who enjoyed collecting guns and supporting Ducks Unlimited. He especially enjoyed mushroom hunting in the spring. Tom found joy and fulfillment in farming, appreciating the peace and solitude it brought. He loved to barbecue and was always happy to grill for family and friends. A true animal lover, Tom had a special bond with his dogs and his shop cat. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
