Thomas Deeter Obituary

GREENFIELD – Thomas Edward Deeter, age 83, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Methodist Hospital. He was born in Indianapolis on June 8, 1942 to Edward F. and Marion (Fehrman) Deeter. He graduated from North Central High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1964 until 1968. Thomas married Rhonda Alana (Gibbs) on August 15, 1987 in Evansville, Indiana.
He dedicated 31 years of service as a switchman at Indiana Bell (later Ameritech) in Indianapolis, retiring in 1999. Thomas was grateful to be a part of the Indy Honor Flight, a program close to his heart that recognizes Indiana veterans for their service and sacrifice. Thomas found fulfillment in woodworking, gardening, and fixing things around the house. He cherished time spent outdoors, especially birdwatching, and found his greatest joy in the company of his grandchildren.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Rhonda Deeter; daughters, Teresa Hill, Christy Dykes, Jamie Brown (Sam), Jessica Hinton (David), and Leslie Broomall; 15 grandchildren, Nick Kerr (Jesse), AJ Kerr (Megan), Sierra Donaldson, Noah Wood (Darby), Abbi Wood (Jacob), Tanner Brown (Chelsy), Nicholas Wood, Nathan Wood, Grant Hinton, Jacob Hinton, Cooper Hinton, Peyton Broomall, Jack Broomall, Ethan Broomall, and Christopher Broomall; great-grandchildren, Calvin Kerr and one Baby Girl Hinton on the way; and sister, Elizabeth Deeter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marion Deeter; and sister, Sandra Weishaar.
The family will honor Thomas's memory privately, and no public services are planned.
