Thomas E. Hogan, 73, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday July 9, 2025 after a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Kathleen; two sons Timothy and his wife Rachel of Dartmouth, and Patrick and his partner Shelby of New Bedford; his siblings, Celeine M. Saraiva of New Bedford, Mary E. Hogan of Fairhaven, Ambrose J. Hogan and his wife Kristen of Fairhaven, Maureen Bowers and her husband Robert of New Bedford, and Lynne M. Garcia and her husband James of Dartmouth; his brothers-in-laws, Robert Wilkinson and partner Melissa Thomas, and Patrick Wilkinson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Ambrose J. and Mary E. (Bruce) Hogan, and his siblings Timothy Hogan, Catherine Hogan, Ellen Hogan, and Marsha Thomas. Tommy served six years in the 482 Army Reserve. He started his career as a plumber, and then became a commercial fisherman. After many years on the water Tommy returned to plumbing, later retiring in 2013 from the New Bedford Plumbers Supply. Beyond his dedicated career, Tommy will be remembered for having the ability to walk in a room and make anyone laugh, his own laugh was contagious, and he loved to tell a good story. He was a huge bird enthusiast, setting up as many feeders as possible. Tommy was known for his green thumb, having a fierce passion for plants. Some of his other passions were the weather, and being a friend to any animal in need. Tommy loved a good meal, but more importantly loved having dessert first as he loved his sweets. His favorite thing to do was go for rides with Kathy to anywhere he could see the ocean. He will be greatly missed, and though we mourn his loss he will be remembered for his love, laughter, and his infamous dance moves. A special thank you to the staff at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth who went above and beyond to ensure Tommy's happiness. Services will be private. As per Tommy's wishes, his ashes will be spread at sea at a later date. "Fair winds and following seas."
