Thomas M McCracken, Sr, 72, of Sunburst MT, passed away on June 2, 2025 at Peace Hospice in Great Falls. Services were held at Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby on June 6, 2025.
He was born to Charles and June McCracken in Rochester, PA on August 25, 1952. He grew up in Freedom, PA the youngest of 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He graduated in 1970 and went to work for ConRail. Tom and Pam Schroeder were married November 17, 1987, in Winchester, Virginia with a reception in Freedom, PA.
Tom went to work for Amtrak and he and his family were transferred all over the United States finally ending his career in Shelby, MT. He retired after 40+ years of railroad service.
Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sports. Tom was a life-long Steelers fan. He also enjoyed reclining in his chair watching his family and drinking coffee or Diet Pepsi. Tom was a machinist and loved helping his sons with their vehicles. He loved all his family, especially his 14 grandchildren and his 14 great-grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his wife, Pam; son, Paul (Cindy) Montgomery and children Christopher, Lilac, Cody, Gillian, and Ashley of Kevin; son, Tom, Jr (Amanda) and children Tom III, Erin, and Izaak of Somers; son, Joshua (Tun) and children Malori, Alexis, and Thane of Great Falls; son, Max (Katie) and children Kilian, Rowan, and Kieran of Lolo. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Donald.
