Thomas Allen Sheffield, 80, of Wellington, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2025. He was born in Oberlin, OH on June 14, 1945 to Henry and Amy Sheffield. Tom served in the Air Force in Tachikawa, Japan during Viet Nam and finished his term in Spokane, Washington before moving back to Ohio in 1972.
Tom was a retired dairy farmer. He enjoyed birdwatching and gardening, especially his personal blueberry patch. He was a huge sports fan, especially of Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball and Cleveland Guardians baseball. He took great pleasure in traveling to visit family and to various destinations with family. He could be found out and about in the community at sporting events of great nieces and nephews as well as Pittsfield community events. He was a generous donor to many organizations. He also served as primary caregiver for a decade for his wife of 49 years, Rosemarie, after she became disabled.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by three siblings, Chuck (Gerry) Sheffield of New Holland, PA and Jim (Lora) Sheffield and Beverly (Roger) James, both of Wellington, by his four children, Jill Ellison of Medina, Matt Sheffield (Victoria) of Houston, TX, Chris Sheffield (Amy) of Wimberley, TX and Jeremy Sheffield (Elaini) of Austin, TX and ten grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Grace, Anna Kate, Drew, Miranda, Jaret, Jessica, Jacob, Joe, Garner and Isaac. He would have become a great grandfather in a matter of weeks.
A graveside service will be held at Pittsfield East Cemetery, Friday, July 18 at 12pm with a celebration of life gathering and lunch to follow at the Pittsfield Town Hall. Expressions of sympathy may be shared online at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
