Donald Luther Darnell,

91, of Bruceton Mills, WV, passed away at his home, Wednesday, September 24, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was the son of the late Samuel and Sarah Hazel Myers Darnell, and was born August 10, 1934, in Morgantown, WV.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a coal miner.

Don is survived by the following children: Robert Thomas Newman and wife, Brenda Newman, Janet Lute and husband Ken Lute, Betty Darnell, William Darnell and companion Rose Strobel and Becky Cobb and companion Mike Kelly; the mother of his children, Janice E. Darnell, Stepchildren: Deborah and Larry Baber, Dale and Belinda Cobb and Dean and Dedra Cobb and several nieces and nephews, followed by several grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Darnell; brothers and sisters: Mable Zinn, Edna Smith, Alvira Smith, Jessie Darnell, Eston Darnell and Robert Darnell; son, Donald (Duck) Darnell and daughter, Sherry Stanley; stepson, Scott Cobb, grandson, Damein Bissett great grandsons: Daniel Swearinger and Skyler Bissett and Bentlee Myers Bissett.

Family and friends will be received in the Mount Moriah Church in Valley Point (Albright, WV) Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service with Pastor Marvin Frankhouser officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors provided by the Preston County Honor Guard.
