With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Tillie Seyka, age 92, of
Clifton, NJ on January 21, 2025.
Tillie was born in Jermyn, PA on June 16, 1932 as the youngest of eleven children. Tillie is survived by her three children, Cynthia, Gregory, John and his fiancé Tami Rojas; along with three grandchildren, Justin, Lauren and Leah. The amount of nieces and nephews are too numerous to count, but Tillie had a memory that was iron clad and she knew each and every name, including all their children and their children's children!
She was predeceased by her mother and father, Julia and Thaddaeus, her husband John, and siblings Steven, Michael, John, Very Rev. Nicholas, Peter, Joseph, Walter, Mary, Irene, Anna and her son-in-law Lloyd Goldsberry.
Tillie graduated from Archbald High School in PA and worked in a dress factory until marrying the love of her life, John and then relocated to Clifton. Here she worked as a crossing guard for the city of Clifton for 26 years. Tillie and John were inseparable for 55 years until his passing in 2012. They were devout Orthodox Christians and parishioners of SS Peter and Paul's R.O. Cathedral in Passaic. Their love was so strong and hearts so giving, so much so that an article was written about them in the Clifton magazine.
Tillie had a passion for cooking and sharing her meals and baked goods with all. No one left her home hungry or empty handed. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy and she was so very proud of them. The simple pleasures in life were more than enough for Tillie. She loved reading the herald news every morning and watching the city council meetings on TV, but her favorite TV program was the sports channel where she watched the NY Yankees while wearing her Aaron Judge t-shirt and shouting at the TV! She enjoyed going to many functions through her senior clubs and exercise classes three times a week. Tillie cherished home life and loved sitting in her backyard. Faith, family and friends were everything to her, always putting others before herself. Her humor and generous, loving heart will forever be missed.
The viewing will be held on Sunday, January 26th from 1-5pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave.,
Clifton, NJ 07013.
The funeral will be held on Monday, January 27th at 10:00 am starting at Tillie's church, SS Peter and Paul R.O. Cathedral, 200 3rd Street, Passaic, NJ 07055. The interment will be held shortly after at SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery, 127 Westminster Place, Saddle Brook 07663.
