Tim Richard Hartman, 72, of Muenster TX was called home on June 27, 2025. He was born June 27, 1953 in a farmhouse southeast of Muenster, the oldest of 6 children to Leonard and Emily (Fette) Hartman.
Tim started farming with his father at an early age often telling stories of driving long before he could reach the gas pedal. He had many memories with his Grandpa Hartman fishing at the pond at the homeplace. Tim attended Sacred Heart Catholic school in his early years.
Being the oldest brother, he made it his mission to terrorize his younger sisters and brother. Jeanann is still traumatized to this day due to him grabbing her foot while she was in bed. John ran through the door because Tim was up on the roof making scary noises. Karla ran away to the mailbox because Tim would not let her help wash his car. Marilynn being 13 years younger lucked out and Tim taught her camping, farming and drinking.
Tim had moved to Muenster Public School, where he played football, enjoyed wood and ag classes. Teacher Dan Hamric left a lasting memory and Tim thought highly of him. He graduated high school in 1971 and then took classes at Cooke County Junior College (also known as Harvard on the Hill). Tim and Janie started dating that same year and got married on August 25, 1973 at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Lindsay, TX. They settled on the Hartman family farm east of Muenster, living there for 52 years.
A farmer/rancher lifestyle also allowed him through the years to build houses with the Tonys (Klement & Fleitman), work the oil field, and start ag related businesses including B&H Ag Products, Cooke County Ag Chemical, and Conklin Ag Products. He was an officer of Cooke County Farm Bureau, Catholic Life Insurance Muenster Branch 18, Muenster CB Radio Club/Sky Warn, and was a firefighter for the Myra Volunteer Fire Department (remember those curly fries Tim came up with those).
Tim had a variety of hobbies during his lifetime. This included making homemade moonshine, deep sea fishing, and taking trips to Colorado every year to camp, dirt bike ride and later snow ski. Many summers were spent at the Hartman Lake south of Myra, TX with family and friends.
Tim is the father of Kristine, Kirk and Jessika. The kids have memories of checking the oil fields while sitting on the back of the 4-wheeler on a metal box, helping on the farm by feeding and working cows, opening the many farm gates, learning how to drive the trucks and tractors, helping with math homework, snow skiing in Colorado, and going on a vacation every summer (mainly camping in Colorado). Kristine begged enough to get a trip to the beach one summer, however. Kirk at a young age was put in charge of the grain truck and ran into the barn. Jessika was left to open a gate and a cow chased her down, leaving her crying on the ground until Tim came back.
Tim is survived by his wife, Janie Hartman; daughter Kristine (Shaun) Shepherd of Lakewood, CO; son Kirk (Lynsey) Hartman of Myra, TX; daughter Jessika (Michael) Bowen of Muenster, TX; 6 grandchildren Alexia and Cora Shepherd, Ali Hartman, and Nikole, David & Emily Bowen; siblings Jeanann (Darrell) Mullins, John Hartman, Karla (John) Kintz, and Marilynn (Mary Lidester) Hartman.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Emily Hartman; infant brother John Joseph; and grandparents John & Helena (Hess) Hartman and Joseph & Gertrude (Otto) Fette.
A Memorial Mass for Tim will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rosary and Vigil will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Scott Funeral Home in Muenster. A private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memories can be made to the Myra Volunteer Fire Department at P.O. Box 102, Myra, TX 76253.
