Timothy Hugh "Buddy" Cox passed away on July 10, 2025, in
Kanab, Utah, at the age of 65. He was born in El Paso, Texas, on May 6, 1960, to parents Richard and Grace (Rowley) Cox. He was the eighth of nine children. Throughout his life, his charm, personality and sense of humor brought joy and love to his family and friends in countless ways and his absence creates a void that will never be filled.
Buddy was a creative and talented person. He held a variety of jobs over the years and lived in many parts of the country before settling down in Kanab in the early 1990s. He had a way of looking at a task or problem and finding a better, and more efficient, solution. He was a hard worker and never left a job unfinished.
Buddy was an exceptional athlete, excelling on the football field and baseball diamond in his early and teenage years. In his 20s he followed in his father's footsteps and picked up the game of golf. It came naturally to him and he was recognized as a top player in the local area, winning many tournaments over the years. He passed his love for the game on to anyone who showed interest in learning the sport, always taking time to share his knowledge with others.
One of his happiest places was on the golf course. Standing on a tee box, driver in hand, an emerald-green fairway stretching out before him, offering up the promise and possibility of success or failure. It was there he felt challenged. It was there he felt peace.
In addition to athletics, Buddy was a gifted musician. He could play the piano by ear and had a wonderful singing voice. He loved to entertain family and friends by playing well-known tunes on the piano, often throwing in a few compositions of his own. Whether playing an instrument or not, he was known to sing a few lines from a familiar song, only to change the words (sometimes inappropriately) just enough to provoke laughter from anyone who was paying attention. If his updated lyrics didn't do the trick, then you could count on one of his jokes (always inappropriate) to get the response he was after. Either way, he'd leave you in stitches.
Hobbies and work aside, Buddy's greatest joy came from his family. He loved being near his children and grandchildren, doing everything in his power to better their lives. He was a wonderful son and brother who enjoyed spending time with his siblings. For his nieces and nephews, he held the undisputed title of "Favorite Uncle". To all those who knew and loved him, family or friends, the memories of him will always be cherished and he will be truly missed.
Buddy is survived by his children: Timothy Jr., Zane Vincent, Zac Vincent, Breanna Crofts, Laci Vincent, and Linze Vincent. Also survived by his 17 grandchildren and his siblings. Preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Tammy Cox.
A celebration of life will be held in 2026 in Kanab. The sharing of stories of Buddy's life and the impact he made on others will always be welcomed by those who knew and loved him, no matter the time or place.
