Timothy David Martin passed away July 2, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 71 years old. Tim was born November 14,1953 to Clair R. Martin and Anna Elizabeth Gormley Martin. His mother passed away in 1960 and he was lovingly raised by his father and stepmother, June Yoak Martin.
Tim played the cello and had a beautiful tenor singing voice. He sang in the church choir and played the cello with the Miami Dade Youth Symphony Orchestra. Tim graduated from Miami Coral Park Senior High School and went on to attend Florida State University on a music scholarship. After his freshman year, Tim returned to Miami and began dating his future wife, Ginger. Tim and Ginger grew up attending Shenandoah Presbyterian Church and their families were great friends. In Tallahassee, Tim and Ginger raised their children at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Tim was a private man with a Christian faith.
Tim and Ginger were married in 1979 and moved to Tallahassee so he could finish college, which he eventually did, with a degree in Political Science. He began working as a clerk in the Registrar's Office at Florida State University and had a 35-year career at FSU rising to the rank of University Registrar. He loved being able to help students.
Tim is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Ginger; son, Joseph (Rachel); daughter, Sarah and his beloved granddaughter, Charlotte, who called him Papa.
Additionally, Tim is survived by his siblings: Katherine (David), James (Jennifer), Carol Jean (Russ), Peter (Susan), Dan (Joanne) and sister-in-law, Margot, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Paul.
Tim loved his family with a great passion. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his generosity, his gentle ways, his beautiful red hair and the twinkle in his eye. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
