Tracie Nicole Crosby-Graves, a loving mother and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, godmother, and friend-passed away on June 27, 2025, in McKinney, Texas.
Tracie was born on September 20, 1978, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, to proud parents Alphonse and Emma Crosby. She grew up in a loving and nurturing family and accepted Christ at the tender age of two and was baptized and christened in both Union Baptist Church and St. Peter Catholic Church. Her faith remained a central part of her life, guiding her through every triumph and trial.
Tracie received her early education in the Moss Point School District, where she excelled academically. She was inducted into the National Honor Society and graduated in the top 10% of the Moss Point High School Class of 1997. That same year, she was nominated by her peers as Homecoming Queen-a testament to her grace, magnetic personality and beautiful smile that lit up a room.
After college, Tracie pursued a career in accounting. She began her studies at the esteemed Morris Brown College, a historically Black college in Atlanta, Georgia, and later transferred to Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Throughout her career, Tracie thrived professionally, working with several respected companies, where she was known not only for her intelligence and work ethic, but for her integrity and collaborative spirit.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Tracie lived a life filled with purpose, generosity, and deep compassion. She had a natural gift for uplifting others-always the first to offer support, encouragement, or a kind word. Her laughter was infectious, her presence comforting, and everything she did was marked by heart and intention. Tracie was a loyal confidante, a trusted advisor, and someone who left lasting impressions wherever she went.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Emma Kimbrough, and paternal grandparents, Lovett "Tobe" and Ruby Crosby.
Tracie leaves to cherish her memory: her two daughters, the loves of her life, her most prized honor: Mycah Dawn Graves and Teagan Gabrielle Graves of Dallas, Texas. She is also treasured by her loving and devoted parents, Alphonse and Emma J. Crosby of
Moss Point, Mississippi; and her sister, Sabrina J. Fountain, also of
Moss Point, Mississippi. Tracie was a proud and affectionate aunt to her nieces and nephews: Ashley Fountain, Kayla Fountain, Maya Fountain, Moya Fountain and Nicholas Fountain; Great niece and nephew Ayden Fountain and Aubriana Fountain.
She also deeply cherished her lifelong friendships and unbreakable bonds with her beloved "bonus sisters"- women who were not only dear friends, but family in every way that mattered: Mavis Law, of Dixon Mills, Alabama; Faith Hurst of Chicago, Illinois; Candice Thomas of Carrollton, Texas; Karen Davis, Dallas, Texas; and Ayesha Harris-Gohanna of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Courtney Jackson of Gautier, Mississippi, and Nicole Creasy of North Carolina. Tracie also shared a deep, enduring connection with her dear friends that became her family away from home: Corey and Angela (Blake) Riley of Allen, Texas, whom she lovingly entrusted as godparents to her daughters. Their son, Taylor O'Brian Riley, Tracie's cherished godson, held a special place in her heart and brought her great joy.
Tracie shared a meaningful relationship with her aunt and uncle, James and Safronia Watkins, who were like second parents to her and offered steadfast love and support throughout her life. She is also remembered with love by her aunts: Ida Crosby-Lewis of Grand Bay, Alabama; Muriel Ann Crisp and Frances O. Crosby, both of Los Angeles, California; Ada E. Crosby of Apache, Florida; and Pastor Eunice Kimbrough-Juniel of Gulfport, Mississippi. Her uncles, Charles C. Crosby and his wife Valerie of Mesquite, Texas, and Clinton G. Crosby of
Moss Point, Mississippi, also mourn her passing. Tracie's memory will live on in the hearts of a large circle of extended family, friends, and coworkers who were blessed to know her.
Tracie's life was defined by love, faith, strength, and an unwavering commitment to family. She was deeply proud of her role as a mother, and Mycah and Teagan were the center of her world. She poured her love, resilience, and wisdom into raising them with care and intention. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and faith-a welcoming space where everyone felt seen, supported, and loved. Though she is no longer with us, Tracie's radiant smile, kind heart, and generous spirit will live on in all who were touched by her love.
