Travis was a devoted husband, loving father, proud son, caring brother, uncle, volunteer firefighter, and skilled mechanic. Travis, age 44, of Campo, Colorado, passed away on October 16, 2025 in Springfield, Colorado. Travis was born on February 8,1981 to Thomas and Cheryl Billings in Walsh, Colorado. He graduated from Campo High School in 1999 and went on to graduate from Southwest Kansas Technical School in Liberal, Kansas and graduated with top honors. From 2000-2009 Travis worked as a diesel mechanic in Kansas until he moved his family back to Campo. He grew up with a strong work ethic and a big heart. From early on, he loved baseball, basketball, shooting sports, 4H and hunting elk and deer — which were passions that stayed with him his whole life.

Travis married Brianna Grogan on July 5th, 2002. As a husband, Travis shared 23 years of love, laughter, and partnership with his wife, Brianna. Together they raised 3 beautiful children. Whether out in the field or teaching his kids, hunting was something he truly enjoyed and shared with those closest to him. It was one of the things that brought him the most joy and made him feel at home. Travis also enjoyed watching and helping with any sports that he could. As a father, he was a steady presence and a true role model — always showing up, always listening, and always putting his family first. He helped coach rec ball for all of his children and found no greater joy than watching them play. He never missed a game. His greatest joy came from being with the people he loved most.

Travis worked for Baca County District 2 on the road and bridge crew since 2018. Travis served his community with pride and selflessness as a volunteer firefighter for the Campo Fire Department for 14 years. He was also currently serving as a member of the Campo City Council. No matter what was asked of him he answered the call without hesitation and always put others before himself. His calm under pressure, strong sense of duty, and willingness to lend a hand made a lasting impact on everyone who served beside him. He also had a natural gift for working with his hands and spent much of his life as a trusted mechanic. Whether he was fixing a neighbor’s truck or tinkering on a project of his own, Travis was someone people could count on — not just to get the job done, but to do it right. There probably aren’t many farmers or truck drivers around the county that have not called on him for advice on a mechanical issue. There truly wasn’t much he couldn’t fix.

Outside of his family, Travis had a tight group of friends who meant a lot to him. Whether they were out hunting or just spending time together, he was always in his element. He was the kind of guy who showed up, stuck by you, and made the simple moments feel like the important ones. For him, it was never about big words — just real connections, hard laughs, and being there when it mattered.

He is survived by his wife, Brianna Billings of Campo; his children, daughter Shalee and son in law Donovan Reagh of Waukomis, OK, son Jorey Billings and girlfriend Kate Elmore of Lubbock, TX and son Talon Billings of the home; his parents, Tom and Cheryl Billings; his sister, Christy and husband Jason Franklin; father-in-law and mother-in-law Bobby and Brenda Grogan all of Campo, CO. Brother-in-laws Brandon and Carol Grogan of Wiley, CO, Beau and Alyssa Grogan of Coleman, OK., and sister-in-law Brittny and Clay Thomas of Colcord, OK., and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him deeply.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Charlie and Francis Wait, paternal grandparents H.W. and Rosie Billings, and Uncles Charles Wait, Darrel Wait, Clinton Hoeffner and Roylin Jackson.

Travis obeyed the gospel and was baptized into Christ in May of 2002 and attended the Sandy Soil Church of Christ. We know and can’t wait for the day that we will be rejoicing with him in heaven!

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Campo Volunteer Fire Department, in honor of Travis’ generous spirit and dedication to helping others. Travis will be missed more than words can say — but the memories, love, and laughs he gave so freely will live on in all of us.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Maltbie Funeral Services Chapel, located at 265 W. 8th Avenue, Springfield, Colorado.
