Travis Jack Jones passed away on June 22, 2025, in Windsor, Missouri. He was born on September 17, 1969, in Brownwood, Texas, to H.R. "Sonny" Jones Sr. and Deborah (Shank) Jones.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood. Funeral services will take place on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery in Early, Texas.
Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Travis grew up in Brownwood and graduated from Early High School in 1988. He went on to attend Angelo State University and Blinn College, where he played football, his favorite subject.
A natural-born mechanic, Travis earned a reputation as the best damn mechanic in Stephenville. His career began back in high school, working under an old oak tree, turning wrenches on his pickups or his buddies' rides. You could always find him out there, his dad by his side, either supervising, lending a hand, or sharing some seasoned advice.
Travis lived big and loved big. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He cherished his family deeply, and if you were lucky enough to call him a friend, you were family too. Travis loved fishing, hunting, and shooting the turtles in the tanks. He enjoyed mudding in his pickup or four-wheeler and hanging out in the backyard with family and friends, a cooler nearby, swapping stories.
Anyone who knew him remembers his favorite word in conversation: "Right." Travis had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him but will be saving a place in Heaven for the rest of us.
Travis is survived by his mother, Debbie; his son, Tristan Stary and wife Elisa of Thornton, Colorado; his grandson, Vincent Stary; his siblings, Raylee Jones and husband Jason of Brownwood, John Jones and wife Amber of Derby, Kansas, Alice Jones of Brownwood, and Kathy Gay and husband Rusty of Brownwood. He also leaves behind 12 nieces and nephews, 15 great-nieces and nephews, one great-great-nephew, countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and hundreds of friends he considered family.
He is preceded in death by his father, H.R. "Sonny" Jones Sr.; his brother, H.R. "Spud" Jones Jr.; nephew Brett Jones; stepfather Gary Sanderson; and siblings Brian Sanderson and Brandi Sanderson Rhodes.
A life well lived, a heart deeply loved - Travis Jack Jones will never be forgotten.
