Travis Weaver, age 41, of Naytahwaush, MN, died Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Mahnomen Health Center, after losing his battle with addiction.
Travis Neil Weaver, the son of Veronica Weaver and Joseph Thomas was born in Detroit Lakes, MN, on September 5, 1983. He grew up in the Naytahwaush area and graduated from Mahnomen High School with the Class of 2003. Following graduation, Travis began working at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen. He also worked laying fiber optic cable, in security, and a variety of other jobs. Most recently and the job he enjoyed the most was working as a PCA. Travis was a natural caregiver and he was committed not only to family but to his friends and community as well. He was good-hearted and always willing to help people in need and to make them laugh. Travis was a social person with a great sense of humor. His family was very important and as a stay-at-home dad, Travis loved spending time with his girls. He also had a special bond with his grandma Shirley and nephews, Colson and Zaiden.
Travis enjoyed ricing, playing Chess, darts, bean bags, Texas Hold 'em and was a MN Vikings fan. Growing up, he was quite athletic and participated in basketball, football, softball and boxing. Travis always remained a "fighter", doing tough man competitions and amateur boxing.
Travis is survived by his mom, Veronica Weaver; his dad, Joe Thomas; four daughters: DeNae, Gracianna, Karmila, and Ariella; four sisters: Nicole LaFrinier, Adrianna Morris, Josette Staples and Vanessa Villebrun; five brothers: Lyman Weaver, Grant LaFrinier, Terry Burnette Jr., Joe Roberts and Kristopher DeFoe; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in addition to father figures, Terry Burnette Sr. and Dan LaFrinier.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Shirley and Lyman Weaver and Hildred and Olaf Thomas; many aunts and uncles and special friends of the family, Linda Littlewolf and Tony Keezer.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, January 29, 2025, with a wake service at 7 pm at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex with Traditional Funeral Services to follow on Thursday, January 30th beginning at 10 am, also at the sports complex. Burial will be in the family cemetery, rural Naytahwaush.
