Pawtucket – Usalia Maria (Pontes) Rodrigues, 94, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on Monday, February 3, 2025, just three days shy of her ninety-fifth birthday. She was the beloved wife of the late Deodato C. Rodrigues who passed away in 2018. Born in Ponta Delgada, (Sao Pedro) Azores, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Emilia (Farias) Pontes.
Usalia worked for many years in manufacturing, but her passion and favorite career was that as a seamstress. She was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner at St. Teresa Church in Pawtucket., Usalia was also a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed nothing more than being with her family.
She will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives she has touched over the past ninety-four years.
Usalia leaves five children, Viriato Rodrigues and his wife, Zelia, of Pawtucket, Alberto Rodrigues and his wife, Gloria, of Cranston, Filomena Sharples and her husband, Christopher, of Pawtucket, Deodato Rodrigues and his wife, Susan, of Swansea, and Maria Sharples and her husband, Kevin, of Powatan, Virginia; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Carlos Pontes, Irondina Martins, Alvira Caetano and Carlos do Rego Pontes.
VISITATION will be held on Saturday, February 8th from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Interment with her late husband will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. TrippFuneralHome.com
