Vera Kay Ahtone-Stevenson passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Born on April 22, 1960, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to parents William and Mary Lucy (Contreras) Ahtone.
Vera attended Broxton School in her youth, and her educational journey led her to study Visual Arts at the Caddo Kiowa Technology Center. Changing directions, her professional life was spent in the service of others, working diligently as a housekeeper, where she was appreciated for her meticulous care.
Vera's love for the outdoors was evident in the time she spent tending to her rock garden. Her pets parrots ever-present companions, shared in the joy of her quiet country home. Vera found relaxation in watching spooky movies and completing puzzles.
Described by all who knew her as kind and friendly, Vera's presence was a source of comfort. She had a unique way of making everyone feel like family, extending her love and care to numerous close cousins, whom she regarded as siblings and their children, whom she treated as her own.
Vera is survived by son David Wagar and his wife Crystal, and daughter Sarah Moulton. She was grandmother to Kelsi Wishon, Kaitlin Davis, and Matthew Miller, and a great-grandmother to Bella Davis, Kymber Wishon, Jackson Wishon, and Kathryn Wishon. Her brothers, William Ahtone Jr. and Mike Ahtone, and sister, Vicky Martinez, also survive her, carrying forward the light of her spirit.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Stevenson, her son, James Moulton, her brothers, Charles Quiroz and Victor Twohatchett, her sisters, Gloria Johnson, Joyce Kidd, Mary Dixie, and Jeanette Madison, her parents, and her stepmother, Anabel Ahtone.
Services are to be scheduled at a later time. All cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services.
