Verline Wood Obituary

Verline Oxendine Wood, 89, of Trenton departed this life on June 28, 2025. She was born on May 15, 1936, to her parents, Bessie Tyler and Eddie Lee Oxendine. Her husband was Charlie Juddson Wood Sr.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Roy Oxendine, Ginny Ree Hollifield, Barbara Ann Norris and Charlie Wood Jr.; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Verline made North Carolina her home, especially 354 Middle Road, Trenton, where she resided. She was born in Robeson County and from the Lumbee Tribe and Cherokee Native American. She liked to go fishing, make jewelry, quilt, garden, sing in the choir and loved to be at church. She loved to help anyone and was one of the most kind-hearted individuals you would meet. Verline will be remembered as a spiritual lady, someone who always had a smile on her face, a woman who loved her family dearly and everyone she met loved her. Her family was her heart and soul, constantly pouring into their lives spiritually, physically and constantly nourishing them with food she would cook to bring when everyone was together.
Above all, her unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life, a beacon that illuminated everything she did. More than just a preacher's wife, she was a woman who lived her faith, radiating kindness, compassion and an infectious love for Jesus.
A Celebration of Verline's Life will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday July 3, 2025, at Kahlert Funeral Chapel in Maysville. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Kahlert Funeral Chapel.
