Vetta "Gaye" McCoy, age 73, of Bowling Green, KY passed away on Sunday, Feb 9, 2025 at the Hospice of Southern Kentucky. She was born on Sept. 5, 1951 in Butler Co., KY. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. She touched the lives of many children and families during her 40 plus years of babysitting. Gaye enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and all the kids she took care of. She was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Lawrence and Velma Tomes Phelps; siblings Ovanna Hardy, Vendon Phelps, Glen Phelps, Jerry Phelps, Sue Steff, Laymon Phelps, Veda Salling and Una Maye Kennedy.
Gaye is survived by her husband of 54 years, Eddie McCoy; children Bridgette Gentry (Timmy); Benji McCoy (Shannon); grandchildren Dalton Gentry (Sheana), Peyton Gentry and Brantley McCoy; great grandchildren Liam Gentry, Olivia Gentry and future great granddaughters Lexi and Remi Gentry; sister Ann Penner (Earl); several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025 at 1:00pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Colovis officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and Thursday, Feb. 13 from 9:00am until 1:00pm at Smith Funeral Home.
