Viola Mae VanWorth, passed away July 10, 2025, in Hugo, OK at the age of 93. Born on June 5th, 1932, in Coalgate, Oklahoma. Viola's life was a testament to her selfless, kind, and friendly nature that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Viola was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dalton and Lottie French; her devoted husband, Charles Edward VanWorth; her two daughters, Sandra Anderson and Sue Robinson; three sons, Ted Patterson, Lowell Hughes, and Leonard Hughes. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Lloyd French and Jasper French, and sister, Doris Hembree.
Viola's life was enriched by the close bonds she shared with her surviving family members, including her brother, Donald French of New York, and grandchildren, Rebecca True and her husband Shea. Great-grandchildren Kasandra VanWorth, and Kandi Satterfield and her husband Ryne, all of Hugo, Oklahoma. Her love and guidance will be profoundly missed by them, as well as by several other relatives who were blessed to be part of her extended family.
Professionally, Viola was a beacon of leadership and dedication. She served as the CEO for the Salvation Army of California, where she worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those in need. After a distinguished career, she returned to her roots in Oklahoma and spent approximately 35 years in Hugo, where she continued to be an active and beloved member of the community.
Viola's interests were simple yet profound. She found joy in the daily conversations with friends on the phone including texting, the tranquility of watching and feeding the birds, and the companionship of her cat and dogs. These simple pleasures reflected her appreciation for life's blessings and her ability to find happiness in the world around her.
