Our loving mother, Virginia Ann (Howick)Banks passed away July 20, 2025 in Idaho Idaho Falls.
Born October 15, 1939 to Eamer and Margaret Howick. She was the oldest of six children.
Mom's family lived in Blackfoot, Darby, Montana, Gibbonsville, and Salmon as she grew up.
Mom met her life long partner, Richard (Dick) Banks, and were married. They raised four children in their salmon home. Debbie, Alan, Helene and Bruce.
Mom loved camping with friends and family. She was a life long member of the Salmon Jaycettes, a member of the Salmon Bowling League and coached youth bowling for years. She was the rodeo secretary, drove school bus for the school district and drove bus to several Girls Basketball and Volleyball games.
Mom worked for years at the old IGA, Steele Memorial Hospital and Safeway.
She reluctantly followed dad to Alaska to let him fill a dream of logging fishing and hunting in Alaska, even though she hated flying boats and bears, but she did love to fish. once dad retired from Alaska logging they moved back to their home in Salmon. Mom loved watching her Four kids play sports in school and travel to and from rodeos for many years she attended several grandkids sporting events and was nominated the loudest cheerleader, and if anybody sat next to her, they know what we're talking about.
She is survived by her four children, Debbie (Dean) Shiner of Lemhi, Alan Banks of Salmon, Helene (Terry) Cummings of Moscow and Bruce (Lori) Banks of Grand Junction Co.
9 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren. Her sisters, Joan,Jean,Janette,Leonane and brother Butch.
She is proceeded in death by husband, Richard (Dick)and parents, Eamer and Margaret.
Graveside service will be for both Dick and Virginia July 26, 2025 at 11 AM at The Salmon Cemetery.
