Virginia Lou (Olson) Faldet, 86, of Gonvick, Minnesota passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2025 at Cornerstone Memory Care in Fosston, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley, Minnesota with a luncheon to follow. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
Virginia was born on April 17, 1939, in Cando, North Dakota. Virginia and her family moved to Minnesota a few years later to the rural Clearbrook area. Being the eldest, she was a caretaker for her younger brothers. Virginia was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1957. She later moved to Minneapolis where she worked for the Gold Bond Stamp Company.
Virginia dated Gordon Solberg for a number of years before uniting in marriage on June 14, 1957 in Wheaton, Minnesota and resided in Osseo, Minnesota. From this union they had three beautiful children, Jeff, Kevin, and Joni. They moved to Clearbrook in the early 70's and purchased the Coast to Coast store in Bagley, Minnesota. She helped her husband run the store for a few years. They were later divorced.
Virginia met Jim Faldet a few years later and they were married March 14, 1987 in Montana. They resided on the Faldet Farm near Gonvick until her Alzheimer's progressed. She needed additional care and moved into Fosston Cornerstone Memory Care until her passing.
She was a woman of many talents. She was a skilled painter, rosemaler, gardener, quilter, decorator, and farmer. She could drive any piece of farming equipment and tended the fields when Jim was working on the road. Virginia had a large garden and beautiful flower beds that attracted birds that she loved. Her family especially loved her canned vegetables and venison. Virginia and Jim enjoyed camping, fishing, snowmobiling and took various trips with their family to Yellowstone and the Iron Range. In their later years, they enjoyed wintering in Texas venturing into Mexico and viewing all of the sights to see. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Virginia was survived by her husband, Jim Faldet; children, Jeff (Shari) Solberg, Kevin Solberg, Joni (Rod) Twito; step-children, Karen (Gary) Oftelie, Tim (Jeannine) Faldet, Doug (Teresa) Faldet, Darwin (Brenda) Faldet; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and one brother, Marlin Olson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Kermit and Curtis Olson; step-son, Todd Faldet; grandson, Nathan Faldet; and other extended relatives.
