Virginia Ann (Gini) Petet, age 80, passed peacefully from this life Thursday, June 26th, 2025 at Countryside Assisted Living in Huntsville, AR with family by her side. She was born August 18, 1944, to Rhoton William (R.W.) and Anna Lou Spigner and lived her best life in De Queen, AR.
She was a graduate of De Queen High School where she made many of her lifelong friends. She graduated from Texarkana Business College and worked at the original De Queen Clinic. She was a member of the Church of Christ in De Queen. On July 14th, 1963, she married her high school sweetheart Jerry Petet, and they started a family. She raised three rambunctious boys. In addition to all the responsibilities of being a mom, she put her training to use to help manage the family business (Petet Oil Company).
She loved to travel and spend time with friends. Jerry and Virginia took many vacation trips over the years, most often with friends. They enjoyed discovering new places, but the main focus was time with friends. They eventually bought a travel trailer and became snowbirds. As soon as the Arkansas weather turned cold, they were off to South Texas until spring.
Above all, she loved her kids and grandkids. As a grandmother to seven, all the grandkids called her "Gini." Granddaddy and Gini's house was always the hub for family gatherings. Kids and grandkids would show up throughout the summers to fish in the pond, play golf, swim, lazy floats on the river and jeep rides. Grandkids, of course, got a pass to do whatever they wanted when visiting Granddaddy and Gini.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Rhoton William (R.W.) and Anna Lou Spigner and her brother Jim Bob Spigner.
She is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, Jerry Petet of Huntsville, AR; three sons and daughter-in-law, Stan (Tonya) Petet of Cave Springs, AR, Steve (Shelia) Petet of Springdale, AR, and Scott (Angel) Petet of Fayetteville, AR; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Meggie, Kelsey, Stevie, Reid, Skylar, and Parker.
Those that knew her know she was so much more than the illness that took her. We will forever remember her beautiful spirit, her kind smile, her love for family and friends. She fought so hard to hold on to her memories and her connection to family. Now she is free from that struggle, and we take comfort in knowing she is finally at peace. Her mind is once again sharp, and all her lost memories are now restored.
The family would like to thank all the all those who helped her along her journey; Countryside Assisted Living and Circle of Life Hospice.
Graveside Services will be held at Mt. Ida Cemetery in De Queen at 10:00 am, July 10th, 2025, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
