Virginia Lee Williams, 82, a resident of the Hillsboro community passed
away peacefully on June 25, 2025, following a long illness.
Virginia was born in New Wilmington, PA on July 4, 1942. She was the third
of four children born to Lloyd and Effina (Richards) Davis. Virginia was
raised in New Wilmington and graduated from New Wilmington High School,
with the Class of 1960.
Immediately after high school, Virginia attended Robert Morse Business
School where she earned her associates degree. After school, she worked
as an office administrator for North American Rockwell, in New Castle, PA.
In 1968, Virginia met her future husband, Philip Williams, at a Youngstown
Ski Club dance. After a short courtship, they were married on January 11, 1969
at the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church. They made their first home
together in Poland, Ohio where they lived for 6 months before Philip's
work with IBM's FAA computer systems brought them to Kingstom NY, Oberlin OH,
Olatha KS, Akron OH, Washington DC, then Sunnyvale, CA and finally Hillsboro
in 1978.
Together, they had a daughter, Shannon. Virginia was proud to be a
homemaker and being home working on jigsaw puzzles, the yard, or the garden
were some of her hobbies.
Virginia was also very active and loved nature and the outdoors. From being
a Pittsburg Steelers cheerleader in 1961, to ski club, hiking, beach combing
and dancing. She also enjoyed traveling, including road trips and flying
co-pilot with Philip in their Cessna, cruises and visiting air museums.
Virginia was a great cook and loved to host her close friends. She attended
the Methodist Church and was part of the choir. She also always had a pet,
whether a cat or a dog and attended the many soccer matches and gymnastic meets
where Shannon competed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Effina, her older sister, Dixi, and her youngest sister, Joan.
She is survived by her loving husband, Philip, daughter, Shannon Williams of Lake Oswego, OR and her older sister Barbara.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
