Vito Patrick Cifaldi III
Longtime Chicagoan and Mayor of wherever he may be passed away suddenly on June 16, 2025. He was born on June 30, 1961 in Gary, Indiana to Vito P. Cifaldi II and Janice (Dubroja), who welcomed him into Heaven with open arms.
He is survived by his devoted lifelong partner Daniel Maglione. Also his sons Vito P. Cifaldi IV and Jeffery (Grace) Cifaldi. Siblings: Terri Lynn Cifaldi (Woodstock, GA), David (Kami) Cifaldi (Chandler, AZ), Kimberly (Steve) Bacon (LaPorte, IN), Connie (Jason) McCain (Canton, GA). Grandchildren: Vito V, Jade, Elizabeth, and Isaiah. Also aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Vito attended Westville H.S. (Westville, IN), where he made lifelong friends. Chicago was his true home. Vito was a man with many passions-working at the election polls (where he may have passed out more smiles than he did stickers), loving street fairs and local festivals. He took pride and joy in his community.
More impressively, he was the guy who always knew someone wherever you went. "OH you know Vito" was basically a local password for instant credibility. A true foodie (with Dan's cooking being the best), Vito had a knack for sniffing out the best new places before Yelp even knew they existed. (Maybe a coupon was used-he loved them.)
Vito loved to support his friends and family in everything they did-from opening restaurants to leaving treats (from his big black bag) and notes to bring happiness, attend parties, and hang out "in the cave" to see how everyone was doing. He was always in your corner.
Vito's heart also belonged to Ms. Vikki Carr. With his lifelong love for her music, it's only natural he became President of her International fan club. He promoted her music with the devotion usually reserved for Cubs fans.
Vito leaves behind a crowd of his family, his "Buildings" family and friends, classmates, old coworkers, politicians, doormen, servers, and all who are too many to mention. Plus his plants and flowers he loved too. We were all better with Vito in our lives.
In honor of Vito, we suggest you try a new restaurant this week, tip your server generously, and put on a Vikki Carr record. Bonus points if you make a friend while doing it.
We will miss him tremendously, but we know he's already found the VIP section at the great food festival in Heaven.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. The date and time will be announced on his FB.

"Vito was in your corner" was so true. He had a good heart and was always helpful if you were down and out. He knew more ways to save money. He helped get me the gig working early election when he knew I really needed a job, and I am forever grateful for the help and the way he could be so kind.
