Viviem Diaz Obituary

Published by Legacy from Jul. 22 to Jul. 28, 2025.
It is with profound sadness and deep love that we share the passing of Viviem Emilia Díaz Caragol, who left this world peacefully on July 21, 2025, in Miami, Florida. Born on August 9, 1941, in Güines, Cuba, Viviem's heart never left the place where her story began. She carried the spirit of her hometown with her throughout her life and often spoke of her longing to one day return to the Cuba she loved so dearly. A graduate of the University of Florida, Viviem found her calling in education. She believed passionately in the power of learning to open doors and transform lives, dedicating her career to helping students find their path to opportunity. She especially championed women, encouraging them to lead boldly, to build their own independence, and to pursue their passions without compromise. Viviem lived generously-sharing her love, her time, her energy, and her resources freely. She treated every person she met with dignity and respect, leaving a lasting impression of warmth and grace. Though an only child, her cousins were like siblings, and her friends became a chosen family with whom she shared a lifetime of laughter, adventures, and unforgettable moments. She is survived by her devoted husband of more than 50 years, José "Pepe" Caragol, her beloved daughter Viviem Caragol Perez, cherished son-in-law Alex Perez, and her adored grandson AJ Perez, who brought her immeasurable joy and was truly the light of her life. Viviem's legacy is one of love, courage, and connection. She built a life around nurturing others, and her memory will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched. In honor of Viviem's generous spirit, the family asks you simply create a joyful memory with someone you love. Take your mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, cousin, neighbor or friend out for a drink, enjoy a day at the beach, and think of her the next time you visit Disney! Keep her memory alive in those special moments, sharing a love for life and one another.
