W. Faye Benefield passed away on May 28, 2025, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. A memorial service will take place at 10:00a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at West Funeral Home Chapel; no visitation will be held, as cremation has already taken place. Wanda Faye Funk was born on December 1, 1942, in Carlsbad New Mexico to Frankie and Juanita (Whygles) Funk. On June 11, 1960, in Carlsbad, New Mexico she married J. Sam Benefield. She graduated as Wanda Faye Funk Benefield from Carlsbad High School on June 2, 1961. W. Faye was a generous and kind woman who belonged to several organizations including The Women's Club, Red Hat Society and the Country Gold Dance Team. She enjoyed Bunko and Farkle. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by parents Frankie and Juanita (Whygles) Funk, grandparents Leonard and Jewel Whygles, brothers Frankie Don and Jimmy Ray Funk and son Jim Bill Benefield. She is survived by husband J. Sam Benefield of the home, daughter Lisa (Jerry) Speights of Americus, GA son Jason (Celeste) Benefield of Destrehan, LA, granddaughters Jaslin, Addison and Eden Benefield of Destrehan, LA, sister Linda (Mike) McFarland of Roswell, NM, sister-in-law Sharon Funk of Carlsbad NM, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to specially thank Pearl Ramirez for all of her help and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carlsbad Community Kitchen at 402 S. Alameda Street Carlsbad NM 88220 or any charity of your choice.
