Wallace Allan Burke, age 81, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was born on March 12, 1943, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Charles Eugene Burke and Mary Eva Cook Burke.
Wallace lived a life of service, family, and simple joys. He graduated from Idaho State University with a degree in Business Administration and spent the majority of his career in retail management, working with companies such as McCrory Corporation, Ben Franklin Corporation, Snappy Mart, and Dollar General.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wallace served a mission in Florida and continued to serve faithfully throughout his life. He found great joy in serving in the temple and indexing family history.
Wallace enjoyed the simple things in life. He was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking. He cherished spending time with his family and had a gift for making others feel special. He loved to serve those around him.
Wallace was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jackie Lynn McNally Burke; his son, Nathan Burke; his granddaughter, Emily Leanne Martin; and his brothers, Wesley Eugene Burke, Roy Richard Burke, Jay Walter Burke, and Duane Evan Burke.
He is survived by his children, Curtis Allan Burke (Marni), Melinda Burke Martin (Larry), Amanda Burke Stockman (Jesse), and Amber Burke Pierce (Doug); his grandchildren, Regan Burke Lewis, McKenzie Burke Gerber (3 great-grandchildren), Dennis Paul Bingham (4 great-grandchildren), Andrea Burke, Caleb Alan Burke, Kyle Lawrence Martin (2 great-grandchildren), Ashley Nicole Martin (3 great-grandchildren), Rebecca Raeanne Martin, Erin Elizabeth Martin, Hannah Stockman Agnew, James Wallace Stockman, Oliver Casey Stockman, Douglas Ace Pierce, and Dillian Eugene Pierce; and his siblings, Nona Burke Thompson (Larry), Elaine Burke Park, Anita Burke Thompson, and Glen Ray Burke (Diana).
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse, located at 1000 W Florida St,
Deming, New Mexico, with Bishop Adam Westenhofer officiating.
A private family cremation service will be at Mountain View Cemetery in
Deming, New Mexico.
A luncheon will be served at the church meetinghouse immediately following the funeral services.
In lieu of a viewing, the family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Wallace's life at the funeral service and luncheon.
