KNOXVILLE/MONTEREY, TN-Walter Humphrey, born April 22,1929, in Knoxville, TN, returned to his eternal home Saturday June 14, 2025.

In addition to his parents Walter is preceded in death by wife, Ruth Gill Humphrey; brother William Humphrey, sister Betty Lorraine Newman, Sister Lily Carmichael; brother, Bobby Humphrey.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Carol Humphrey, Jeffrey and Lynda Humphrey, and Mark and Debbie Humphrey, all of Knoxville; nine grandchildren, Kelly (John) Demario, Matthew Humphrey, Brian Humphrey, Adam Humphrey, Bradley Humphrey, Lauren (Robert) Garner, Crystal (Curt) Braeuner, Amber (David) McNeil, and Kevin Humphrey; and twelve great grandchildren Olivia Demario, Jack Demario, Gavin McNeil, Stella McNeil, Gracyn Garner, James “Bo” Garner, Barrett Garner, Ben and Talia Braeuner; Addison Humphrey, Markaylnn Humphrey and McKinley Humphrey and sister-in-law Lois Humphrey.

Walter was a man of exemplary integrity and lived a life full of kindness, compassion, and grace. Whether in the quiet corners of everyday life or in moments that shaped the story of his family, his impact was felt deeply. He was a master craftsman and was employed at Y-12 facility in Oak Ridge for 43 years as an electrician and on the emergency squad. Walter was a member of Knoxville First Church of the Nazarene and attended Callahan Road Baptist Church.

Through his passions and pursuits, Walter left an indelible mark, sharing his talents and love generously. His legacy is etched not only in the milestones they achieved but also in the countless hearts he touched.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. (CDT) at Horner Funeral Home, 203 South Holly Street, Monterey, TN 38574. Interment will follow in Welch Memorial Cemetery. His family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. (CDT) until service time at the funeral home.
