Wanda M. Buzzard Morgan, 95, formerly of Effingham, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Evercare at University in Edwardsville, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Altamont. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Wanda was born on September 1, 1929, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Edgar "Cotton" and Alice (Bishop) Smith. She married Paul W. Buzzard, who preceded her in death in 1962. From this union two children were born, Marsha and Michael. Wanda later married David Morgan.
Wanda began her retail career at the Three Sons Store in Altamont, IL. Later she spent many years working at Spurgeon's Department Store and La Tiara Women's Clothing Store, both located in Effingham IL. Later in life Wanda enjoyed keeping up with current events and listening to books on tape. She also took special interest in what her grandkids participated in.
Wanda is survived by her children, Marsha Kessler and Mike (Diane) Buzzard; grandchildren, Jeff (Sara) Berkbigler, John (Rachel) Berkbigler, Angela (Darin) LeCrone, Paul J. (Kim) Buzzard, and Keith (Kelly) Buzzard; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild arriving in September. Wanda is also survived by her siblings, Jeannie Mayhood and Ed (Nancy) Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul W. Buzzard; husband, David Morgan; son-in-law, Paul Kessler; brother in infancy, James Smith; and brother-in-law, Gene Mayhood.
