Warren H. Cobb
(August 5, 1932 - November 3, 2025)
Warren H. Cobb, 93, of Ormond Beach, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Pensacola, Florida, on August 5, 1932, to Lawrence and Katherine Cobb, Warren was raised in Deland, where his lifelong love for his community began. As a teenager, he witnessed history when Jackie Robinson broke baseball's color barrier at City Island Ball Park in 1946 - an experience that left a lasting impression on his sense of justice and equality. Warren graduated from Deland High School, where he served as Class President and proudly played on the football team. He went on to attend Florida State University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Political Science with honors. Inspired by his uncle, Deland attorney Neil Jackson, Warren pursued his law degree at the University of Florida, graduating from the College of Law in 1958.
Returning home to Deland, Warren began a distinguished career in law that spanned more than four decades. After 14 years in private practice, he was elected Circuit Court Judge of Volusia County in 1972, where he served with humility, fairness, and respect for all who entered his courtroom. In 1979, Governor Bob Graham appointed him to the newly established Fifth District Court of Appeal in Daytona Beach - a role Warren held with wisdom, compassion, and dedication for 23 years until his honorable retirement in 2003.
Though Warren's professional achievements were many, those who knew him best will remember him not only for his legal acumen but for his kindness, humility, and unwavering sense of duty. He believed deeply in the power of education, the value of community, and the importance of treating every person with respect. His presence was steady and reassuring - the kind that quietly lifted those around him.
In the legal community, Warren was well respected for his intelligence and ability to write in plain English that was clear, clever and deeply thoughtful. He was an originalist who believed we should follow the law as written, but he gave each case tremendous thought and consideration to make sure the outcome was correct. He will be remembered for his sharp wit and the camaraderie he shared with those in the legal community and long term friends he maintained throughout his lifetime.
He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Helen Parker Cobb; his daughters, Catherine Cobb and Stacy Atkins; his stepdaughters, Candace Berner and Debbie Berner Borg; his grandchildren, Brittany Cobb and Bevin O'Brien; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his previous beloved wife of 50 years, Dorothy "Dottie" Cobb.
The family will receive friends 3:00PM to 5:00PM, Thursday, Nov 13, 2025 at Lohman Funeral Home, 733 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174. The funeral catered reception from 9:00AM to 11:00AM, Friday, Nov 14, 2025 followed by funeral services at 11:00am also at Lohman Funeral Home in Ormond Beach. Burial will be private after the funeral at Hillside Cemetery.
