The staff of Heishman Funeral Home/Valley Funeral Service sends condolences to the family of Mr. Wayne L. Golladay.
Wayne L. Golladay, age 96, formerly of Gettysburg, PA, passed away on July 1, 2025, at Country Meadows West Shore in Mechanicsburg, PA. Wayne was born on June 7, 1929, to the late David F. and Maude Zirkle Golladay in Timberville, VA, and grew up in nearby Quicksburg. He attended Virginia Polytechnical Institute as an ROTC cadet and graduated with a degree in Horticulture. He served in the US Army 1st Cavalry Division as a 1st Lieutenant during the Korean War in both Korea and Japan. In October 1955, Wayne married Anna Lou Zirkle of New Market, VA, with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage. Wayne's career supporting the fruit industry lead them from western PA through the Hudson Valley of NY before settling in Gettysburg, PA for 52 years in the close-knit Knoxlyn Road neighborhood.
Upon retirement, Wayne and Anna Lou enjoyed traveling in the United States and overseas throughout Europe, China, Africa, Australia, and the Galapagos Islands. Wayne belonged to Good Samaritan Lodge #336 in Gettysburg, PA for many years and was a member of Shriners International, Ushers Unit, and the Scottish Rite. He and Anna Lou were pleased to volunteer with the annual Zembo Shrine Circus. Additionally, Wayne enjoyed golfing and participated in league play at Mountain View Golf Course, particularly when he and his buddies convened at the Fairfield VFW after their rounds for "problem-solving".
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife Anna Lou Golladay of Mechanicsburg, PA; son, Stephen Golladay of Bainbridge, GA; daughter, Sharon Duncan (Randy) of Mechanicsburg; daughter, Marsha Webb (Dave) of Havre de Grace, MD; and his two cherished grandsons, David Golladay and Daniel Webb. He is survived by his sister, Mary Lee Embrey of Charlottesville, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was predeceased by his siblings Arnold Golladay, Garland Golladay, and Fern Golladay Zirkle, and an infant son, Jerry Alan Golladay.
Graveside services will be conducted at Cedar Grove Cemetery Mount Jackson, VA on July 9th at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Hospice of Central PA 1320 Linglestown Road Harrisburg, PA 17110 or the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Rd., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
Cards can be sent to Anna Lou Golladay, C/O Country Meadows, 4833 East Trindle Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
The family would like to thank the Country Meadows staff, his PHHC aides, Deloris and Mercy and Hospice of Central PA for the compassionate and supportive care that Wayne received.
