Wayne A. Smith age 67 of Waynesboro, PA died on August 1, 2025 at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg PA, with his loving family at his side. Born May 27, 1957, in Frederick MD he was the son of Annamae (Rice) Luther and the late Elwood A. Smith.
Wayne was a 1975 graduate of Catoctin High School. He was a successful owner and operator of Wayne Smith’s Painting Company for many years. He was a simple man who like his beer and enjoyed fishing and NASCAR. His Sundays were spent “making his rounds” to spend time with his family. He was particularly proud of his granddaughters.
He is survived by daughters, Jennifer Forrest and husband Boo of Blue Ridge Summit, PA., Kim Richardson and husband Steven of Waynesboro; granddaughters, Hannah, Madilynn and Harleigh Forrest and baby Richardson due in December; sisters, Sally Ortman of Gettysburg, Susan Hedrick and husband Mark of Gettysburg, and Charlene Stewart of Thurmont.
He was predeceased by his sister, Donna Phillips.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 12 p.m. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg MD. The family will receive friends at the funeral on Friday August 8th from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
