Wesley Hitzeroth Obituary

On June 20th, 2025, Wesley Hitzeroth, 94, passed away of natural causes at his home in Harmony, Illinois. He was the youngest of five sons. Born to Barbara Marie Hemming and Otto Franz Hitzeroth.
Wes grew up in Wayne, Illinois and in 1951 at the age of twenty, he enlisted in the Air Force. While in training, he was sent to learn electronics at Oklahoma A&M. He then spent one year at O'Hare Air Force Base until he volunteered for Korea from 1953 to 1954. He was Discharged in March 1955. Upon returning home, he began learning construction from Fred Holtz, an Elgin Contractor in 1955. Wes then worked for Wetzel Construction and Vernon Greve.
In 1962, he married Betty Schmidt in Elgin, Illinois. Together, they raised three children: Jim, Rick, and Susan. His family meant the world to him. Having seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren brought him immense joy. He and Betty enjoyed many vacations in Maui, Cancun, and Ft. Meyers Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty; his brother; Richard Hitzeroth; his children, James (Kelli) Hitzeroth, Richard (Jami) Hitzeroth, Susan (Ray) Larson; many nieces and nephews; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Wesley is preceded in death by his father, Otto; his mother, Barbara Marie; his brothers, Franklin, Roger, and Douglas Hitzeroth; and his grandson, Connor Hitzeroth
A Memorial service will be held on July 19, 2025, at 12pm, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Located at 33930 N State Rd, Genoa, Illinois. A visitation will take place prior to the service, from 10 am to 12 pm.
