Wilbert Dale Powell, 80, of Newport, Arkansas departed this life on July 19, 2025 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
He was born February 24, 1945 in Newport, Arkansas to the late William and Lola Powell.
Dale lived a life full of energy, laughter, and simple joys. An avid outdoorsman, he found peace in the woods and on the water- whether he was hunting at first light or casting a line into the river. He loved riding four wheelers, playing slot machines, and racing stock cars. Dale was also a regular at Sam's Diner, where he never missed a hot cup of coffee or a hearty meal. He enjoyed the comfort of the community and the familiar faces at Sam's. Above all, Dale loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He liked watching the kids play ball and was so proud of them. He was a career truck driver for a better part of his life and loved it. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends.
He is survived by his seven children, Deanna Dodson (Mark), Brenda Godair (Daniel), Dale Ray Powell (Christine Baumgarner), Lonnie Dale Powell, Doyle Ray Powell, Sherri Moldan, and Dale Lynn Powell; his grandchildren, Misty Myers, Michael Myers, Jaden Godair, Jeremiah Godair, Jarrett Godair, Jasmine Godair, Layne Powell, Lydia Powell, Justin Heinrich, and Tanya Heinrich; his great grandchildren, Cayden Jefferson, Addalynn Myers, Ryder Myers, and Harper Godair; his siblings, Ann Daniel (Leon), Patrica Bennett, Johnny Powell (Brenda), Dean Powell, and Leslie Gene Powell; and his mother in law, Louise Reed. He is also survived by a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Powell; his son, Tommy Leon Powell; his granddaughter, Shayla Short; his grandson, Joey Heinrich; his brother, William Lee Powell; and his sister, Delphia Touhey.
Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Jesus is Lord Family Worship Center in Jacksonport, Arkansas.
