Wilbur Schierer Obituary

Wilbur Schierer, 84, of Lacon Illinois, died on July 6, 2025 at Henry Rehab and Nursing in Henry Illinois. Born on February 16, 1941 in Roanoke Illinois to the late Isidore and Josephine (Kirchgessner) Schierer, he married Sandra Clyde on January 14, 1961 in Lacon. she survives. also surviving are his children Denice Murphy of Hopewell, Wilbur (Trina) Schierer of Williamsfield Illinois, Darrin Schierer of Lacon, Damion (Michelle) Schierer of Varna Illinois; brother Herman Schierer of Peoria Illinois; sisters Clare Grebner of Washburn Illinois, Darlene Atkins of Lacon; grandchildren Felicia Murphy; Justin Murphy; Ike Schierer, Jacinda Meeker, Damion Schierer Jr., Chelsea Schierer; and four great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by five brothers: Donald, Alfred, Francis, Richard & Russell Schierer; sister Bernadine Appel; and daughter-in-law Patricia Schierer. Wilbur retired from caterpillar after 30 years in the parts department. After retiring, he enjoyed working in the garage doing little things like making bird houses and plant holders out of wood Sandy and Wilbur would go down to the local diner, Victoria's, and hang with friends. they talked gossip and told stories, but Wilbur just liked to sit and listen. He enjoyed sitting by a fire with family, listening to his sons & grandchildren tell stories until his ribs hurt from laughing. He also enjoyed hunting deer, turkey, and squirrel, but mostly the hunting stories where things got a little carried away where his favorite. Wilbur liked his holidays. He always decorated his yard at Christmas in Halloween. People always drove by and said how much they liked his decorations. this always put a smile on Wilbur's face. Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life will be held on July 26, 2025 at the Lacon Community Center 405 N Washinton St from 11am- 2pm.
